Missed-Call Text Builder

When you can’t pick up, most callers don’t leave a message — they call the next business. Build the text that goes out automatically, plus a polite follow-up.

Pick the situation

Keep the automatic text plain: no coupons, offers or links to deals — that turns it into marketing, which needs written consent. Three texts in 24 hours at most, nothing after 8 p.m. except the instant reply, and stop the moment they reply “stop” or book.

Send within a minute of the missed call.

General information, not legal advice. Business texting from a local number needs A2P 10DLC registration through your provider, and states like Florida have stricter rules — check with your provider or attorney before turning on automated texts.

Why it matters

In one industry benchmark, 27% of calls to home-services businesses went unanswered, and under 3% of callers sent to voicemail left a message. A quick text tells them you noticed and makes it easy to keep talking.

Every text here names your business, owns the missed call, makes replying easy and includes an opt-out. Three texts at most, then stop.

Questions

How do I send these automatically?

Most phone providers and missed-call text-back tools let you set an automatic reply. Paste Text 1 there, and send Texts 2 and 3 yourself if there’s no reply.

Why does it say “2 texts” sometimes?

Carriers split long messages. Curly quotes and emoji also shorten each text. Keep the first text short where you can — but the 911 safety line is worth the extra text.

Can I add a coupon to the automatic text?

Not without written consent. A plain reply to someone who just called is the lowest-risk text; coupons and offers turn it into marketing.

What about rules in my state?

This is general information, not legal advice. Florida and some other states are stricter than federal law — check with your texting provider or attorney first.
